Live formative assessment
Ask a question, review the responses, and continue when you are ready.

How qping works
qping lets you add questions to a lesson, collect responses from the whole class at once, review the results, and decide what to do next. You can ask one question by itself or build a complete lesson with a PDF, native slides, or both.
Ask during the lesson, show the class what happened, and use the result right away. No separate benchmark is required.
Students join with a class code and a private PIN. A remembered Chromebook can skip the PIN on the next Ping. A Google sign-in option for students is coming. See how students join on the Learn page.
Start with the lightest path
Choose Create a Ping. Pick a saved class, or use a temporary code with no roster.
Create the class, add the roster and PINs, then keep using the same class code.
Open Lessons, choose Present, and teach your slides and Pings in one sequence.
The complete classroom workflow
Create the class, add the roster, and generate PINs. Add an Evidence Plan if you want new Pings to reuse the same skill and stage.
Create one Ping, upload a PDF and add Pings, or build slides in qping. Save the lesson when you want to reuse it.
Turn it on for a named-response Ping. Confirm the skill, standards, and stage. Pulse Check is available in the pilot.
Open the Ping, watch responses, show results, then continue, clarify, or return to a review slide.
Check live work and missing responses first. Open the source record when you need the prompt, answers, attendance, Pulse Check evidence, or next move.
Safe Check
Safe Check records who participated, then stores the answer without the student's roster identity.
No student identity is requested with the answer. Anonymous responses cannot verify participation.
Interactive example. The response mode is Safe Check.

Classes
Add the roster once and qping keeps the class code, personal PINs, lessons, and records together until you change them.
For a pilot class, add one Evidence Plan. New Pings inherit its skill and instructional stage, and you can change either field before using the Ping.

PHY-2K9, with printable PIN cards for all 24 students.Standards context is optional. Adding a state and a grade band improves the skill suggestions qping offers later.
Interactive example. Setup has not been run.
Live instruction
Combine a PDF with Pings, build slides in Studio, or ask a single question with no deck at all.
A lesson can contain source slides, qping slides, and Pings in one sequence. You can use a timer, open live attendance, or choose a prepared follow-up route without leaving the presentation.

Ping
Use multiple choice, short answer, equations, drawings, prompt images, or math notation while the question is still relevant.
Create Pings one at a time or bring in teacher-authored questions with Smart Paste, CSV, or the optional AI organizer. Every imported Ping stays editable before use.

Pulse Check · Available in the pilot
qping suggests possible matches from the question, the correct answer, and the saved class context. You choose what to track.
qping suggests possible matches. The teacher chooses what to track.
Pulse Check is built and available in the pilot. You choose whether to use it on each eligible Ping. Evidence is saved only after you confirm the skill, and patterns wait for enough evidence before appearing for review.

Suggested skills
Based on the question, the correct answer, and the saved class context. You choose what to track.
Suggestions are an assistive starting point. qping never assigns a standard without teacher confirmation.
This window has not met the review gate. A pattern is not shown for review until enough responses have accumulated.
Nothing enters Records as evidence until you turn Pulse Check on for a question and select a skill.
Interactive example. Pulse Check is off for this question.
Records
Records Today brings live work, missing participation evidence, and the next review step to the top.
No ranking and no combined score. Open the source before deciding what to do next.

What needs attention
Prompt: Which sentence best supports the inference that the narrator is uncertain?
Response distribution: 16 correct, 7 incorrect, 3 not represented.
Pulse Check: Teacher-confirmed skill, independent practice, more evidence needed before a pattern is ready for review.
The teacher chooses the next move after reviewing the source. qping does not assign a tier or make the decision.
Interactive example. Records Today shows three items to review.
Privacy and teacher control
Every Ping runs in one of three response modes, and you choose the mode before you open it. In Named responses, responses are linked to the student who sent them. In Safe Check, participation and the submitted answer are kept separately, so you can confirm who took part without seeing who gave which answer. In Anonymous, no identity and no participation record are collected at all.
Class rosters, PINs, and records stay under your account. Students only see their own responses and results, never another student's.
Read the full explanation of privacy and teacher control on the Learn page.
Pilot evidence workflow
Turn Pulse Check on for a named-response Ping. Confirm the skill, standards, and stage. qping builds evidence across lessons and waits for enough evidence before showing a pattern.
Set an Evidence Plan in Classes to fill those fields on new Pings. Records Today shows live work and missing evidence. Support cycles hold teacher-set goals, strategies, and review dates.
Pulse Check supports teacher judgment. It does not diagnose students or automatically assign intervention tiers.
Learn how to use Pulse Check. Set up an Evidence Plan. Review support cycles. See the research and pilot evidence.
The student experience
A student opens qping, enters the class code and their own PIN, and joins the lesson. A remembered Chromebook can skip the PIN on the next visit. Students can join now with a class code and their private PIN. A Google sign-in option for students is also coming, though a school may need to approve qping first before a managed student Google account can use it.
During the lesson, a student sees the current slide or question, answers with multiple choice, short answer, an equation, or a drawing, and sees the results and correct answer once the teacher reveals them. Identified students can also keep private typed or drawn notes on lesson slides.
Read more about class codes, PINs, and student sign-in on the Learn page.
Built and available in the pilot
For administrators and MTSS teams
The Research & Evidence page connects qping features to current studies and guidance, states what is still experimental, and will publish the pilot's own results when they are available.
Teachers do not need to read it to use qping.
